What is the purpose of the incognito window?

An incognito or private windows allows you to browse the web without keeping a log of your browsing history. Your searches, visited sites, login credentials and cookies will not be saved on the device after you close the private window.

An incognito or private window does not hide your browser usage from third parties like your internet provider, the government, your employers network admin, or your university. It also does not provide an extra layer of security from hackers. An incognito or private window only blocks your own device from tracking your traffic.

When should I use an incognito window?

You should use an incognito window when you share a computer publicly with others, for example at a university computer lab or a public library. It’s a great tool if you have a family member or friend use your device to login to their own, private accounts.
